How does ZSL help hippos?
ZSL has been working to protect the endangered pygmy hippo in West Africa through field research, community engagement, and captive breeding. Our efforts have contributed to the conservation of the remaining 2,000 - 2,500 individual pygmy hippos - an evolutionarily distinct and globally endangered species.
